"Kaytee has been nothing short of AMAZING! From the first time we met with her I knew that she would be able to make all of my wedding flower dreams come true! And that is exactly what she did! From my bouquet, to all of the personals for the wedding party, to filling the terrariums that my mom and I bought for my centerpieces! She never hesitated to help us with suggestions or brain storm when changes needed to be made. Even with her moving out of the state that I live in, she never missed a meeting or detail! Kaytee and her assistant even stayed to make sure all of the transition from cocktail hour location to our dinner location was a smooth and seamless as we wanted! Our day was so perfect and a HUGE reason why was because of Kaytee’s professionalism and passion for her business! Thank you so much Kaytee! I would recommend Roots Floral Design to anyone and everyone!"

From the first time we met with her I knew that she would be able to make all of my wedding flower dreams come true!

I absolutely loved designing Austin and Adrian’s white and blush flowers for their summer wedding at SoSerene in Columbus, Ohio. SoSerene is a beautiful venue with cobblestone pathways, beautiful large wooden doors, and intricate stonework throughout the buildings. The venue reminded me of something you could see in Italy! Since we had so many neutral colors with the natural elements of the venue, we really wanted the flowers to have bright colors to bring in an organic and romantic element.

We loved that Adrian wanted several different tablescape designs for her wedding. We had three table designs total and it really allowed a sense of interest for their wedding guests. We also always love a bride who wants a ceremony installation! Since SoSerene’s pergola was white, we decided to add some Southern Smilax greenery to make it pop. For all of their arrangements, we wanted to use flowers that were in season during the summer time. We ordered pink garden roses, blush astilbe, white lace cap hydrangea, white ranunculus, and white snowberry.

This was our first event at SoSerene and we can’t wait to go back and do another wedding on their stunning property! We loved working closely with Jasmine from Vivid Vibes Event Planning, we would highly recommend her to all our brides! Congratulations to Austin and Adrian!

This Cincinnati Art Museum wedding was a favorite for our spring events. The couple, Jonas and Bo, were so sweet and really allowed me to be creative in both their color palette and floral ingredients. I feel so grateful to have had them as a client.

Jonas and Bo said “I do” at the Cincinnati Art Museum. CAM is a stunning wedding venue with lots of stone and old world architectural details. Since the venue had a lot of soft and neutral tones, we really wanted to bring in that spring vibe with color in the flowers. We decided on a lot of peachy tones with a hint of lavender and dusty blues. Some of my favorite flowers I ordered were lavender clematis, dusty blue tweedia, peach ranunculus, and I even splurged on some specialty garden roses from Grace Rose Farm called Distant Drum. They were the highlight of the arrangements!

When you have a Cincinnati Art Museum wedding, you get the best of both worlds on having an indoor and outdoor space. The indoor space, which is called the Great Hall, is where you can hold your ceremony and reception space. This indoor space is especially nice if the weather is not ideal. The courtyard is a stunning, inclosed space with towering stone walls along with beautiful fountains and gardens. It’s another great place to hold your ceremony and reception, but only if the weather is nice and sunny. Since the forecast showed rain during the evening, the cocktail hour was outside while the rest of the wedding was in the Great Hall.

David and Emily’s wedding at Reckman Farm was one for the books! Their wedding was the biggest for 2018 and I feel so grateful to have worked with the best vendors to bring it all together. I cannot recommend to my brides enough on the importance of hiring the right vendors for your wedding! Each vendor plays such an important role in making wedding dreams come true. Continue on to read all about the details that went into the wedding!

David and Emily were combining their Jewish and Scottish heritage to reflect and pay tribute to their families traditions. A favorite detail of mine was David and his groomsmen wearing kilts! This was to honor their Scottish heritage. Another favorite part was the ceremony chuppah to honor Emily’s Jewish background. Both the bride and groom wanted the ceremony to be a focal point, and I think we accomplished that! I loved designing with dahlias grown locally by a dahlia farmer here in Cincinnati. The dahlias really stood out against the greenery of the scenery and chuppah design.

When you have your wedding at Reckman Farm, you get the best of both worlds on having an indoor and outdoor space. The indoor space, the barn, is a great place to hold a reception, cocktail hour, or even a ceremony if the weather is not ideal. The event design team, Social Design and Events, used the barn in a way that was completely unique. David and Emily’s entire reception was lounge style. Instead of traditional tables and chairs, Social Design brought in Queen City Vignette, a vintage furniture rental company. QCV created “moments” throughout the barn where people could chat, drink, and flow easily through the space. It was casual but had a certain elegance to it as well. We loved providing centerpieces and accent bud vases for each of the coffee and end tables for the lounge spaces!

Since the Reckman Farm barn was mostly brown, the bride Emily, wanted to soften it up with some greenery. We went all out! Greenery can really transform a space and give it that organic feel that it sometimes need. The before and after transformation was incredible and I’m so happy with how it turned out.

The outdoor space is absolutely stunning. Reckman Farm is located in the middle of a forest and a large lake. My favorite detail for their outdoor decor was the grill installation that we did. The grill was made of stone and quite large. It looked a little out of place for a wedding and was close to where the ceremony was going to be held. David and Emily wanted to somehow cover the grill but still allow it to blend and look natural in the forest. This was my first time designing a grill and I’m thrilled with the outcome! Always ask your design team or florist for options, you never know just how creative we can be!

To compliment Emily’s love for purple and to keep on theme with the forest, we used a lot of textural blooms and greenery. Allium Bullet, Thistle, Heuchera, and Scabiosa were some of the textural flowers that we used. I also wanted each of the arrangements to have a nice romantic element as well. I ordered dahlias, speciality garden roses, and clematis.

This stunning Buxton Inn wedding is a favorite for 2018! I love a bride who is willing to reach the boundaries of design. Erica had a really unique flower color palette, which made her arrangements interesting and unique!

Erica wanted a burgundy and earthy pink color palette with hints of lavender and dusty blue. It might sound strange at first, but once you look at these photos, you will feel differently! Having a unique color palette can allow your wedding to stand out next to the millions of others. Dahlias, amnesia roses, chocolate cosmos, tweedia and lisianthus are just a few of the flowers I ordered. These blooms allowed for Eric and Erica’s flower arrangements to have an organic and romantic flair.

I loved working with Jasmine from Vivid Vibes Event Planning when it came to the table decor. Jasmine sourced all the plates and flatware from Aiden and Grace, making sure it complimented the flowers. I loved the colors and design of the plates as well as the dusty blue goblets. I loved Cheer Up Letterpress’s seating chart and place settings. Having paper good details for your wedding can really make all the difference when it comes to impact.

We are so grateful to have stunning photos to treasure from this Buxton Inn wedding. We have worked with Jessy from The Howard Brand a few times now and she did not disappoint! After weddings like this, I feel so blessed to be able to work with couples and vendors who trust me to make their wedding day come to life.

This modern and eclectic Speed Art Museum wedding was a 2019 stunner. The Speed Art Museum is a clean and neutral venue, allowing me to create unique and modern arrangements. Since I was using a lot of texture, I wanted to keep the color palette timeless and classic. I used ranunculus, majolica spray roses, flannel flower, bleached ferns, and one of the most disliked flowers in all of wedding history: babies breath. My goal for this wedding was to showcase how even a “hated” flower among brides could be beautiful if designed in a certain way. I was thrilled with the outcome.

I loved working alongside Samantha with Samantha Joy Events. Sam is one of my preferred wedding planning vendors and it is because of her incredible attention to detail. Since the flowers were a main concept and priority for the couple, we wanted to make sure that the rest of the table details were soft and neutral to allow the centerpieces to pop. Even though the wedding decor was neutral in color, it did not lack in stunning details. Sam is also known for her amazing flat lays. She takes important details (such as jewelry, shoes, heirlooms) and designs them to be photographed. Couples don’t often think of the small but important details that make up their wedding day. Sam designs them in a way that will be treasured and remembered forever. I loved Kristen Becker’s menu and paper suite additions. The clear seating chart with the flowers behind was one of my favorite elements of the whole day.

Jenna Powers was the perfect photographer for this event. Her film photos are absolutely stunning. She was able to captured the whites and textures of the arrangements and installations without it becoming blown out.

We loved designing flowers for Nate and Lauren’s intimate wedding in Louisville, Kentucky. In our first conversation, I learned that there would be less than 20 people at their wedding. Nate and Lauren had started out with originally invited over 250 guests. They soon realized that the most important part of getting married was being taken over by other details. Catering, budget, logistics.. Elements that are so important for weddings. Nate and Lauren decided they wanted to go without and have a small and intimate wedding.

Since there were about 15 people invited, the couple only needed two centerpieces for their tables. For the ceremony, they asked for urns so that those arrangements could also be reused. Her bouquet and his boutonniere were the final floral elements for their wedding. No installations and no wedding party. It seemed odd at the beginning, but I think when you scroll through their photos you will find that it was perfect.

My favorite arrangements were the entrance urns. Those lush peonies and overflowing southern smilax created a unique and stunning design. Entrance urns are a great element to add for your ceremony that can easily be reused for your reception. We highly recommend them!

Lauren owns a floral truck in Louisville called Fleur & Frond. It’s a build your own bouquet truck that travels around the Louisville area. It was a bit intimidating to flower for someone who also works professionally with flowers. I was honored that she wanted me to design her wedding day arrangements.

This Monastery Event Center wedding was a favorite for our winter events. In fact, this wedding was our first for 2020! The couple, Ben and Megan, were so sweet and ended up becoming close friends of mine. I really love it when I get to connect with my couples even after their special day.

The Monastery Event Center is a stunning wedding venue with lots of old world architectural details. Since the venue has a tall ceiling and a vast amount of space, we really wanted the event to feel more intimate. That is where our canopies come in. I had designed these canopies myself and paid a professional welder to make them. They are a perfect fit for the Monastery and really allow you to bring the outdoors in. We love the Italian/Tuscany vibes that it brings!

Megan’s bouquet was filled with the dreamiest flowers. Instead of using traditional roses as a focal flower, I decided to try amaryllis. Their dusty peach color paired nicely with the Cafe Latte Roses, brown Lisianthus, and dusty pink Carnations. I also used Scabiosa, Anemone, Majolica Spray Roses, and Statice with autumn eucalyptus and southern smilax as greenery.

We are so happy for Ben and Megan and wish them only the best as their start their married lives together!

Looking for a florist in Lexington, Columbus, or Cincinnati? Florals and greenery can make your special day stand out in a truly unique way that you’ll remember for years to come. Whether you already have floral ideas in mind for your wedding or you are hoping to achieve a specific look and feel, reach out to Roots Floral Design for elegant bouquets, ceremony backdrops and more for a truly romantic wedding in Kentucky!

We are still swooning over Andrew + Ashling’s wedding at Spindletop in Lexington, Kentucky. From their classic floral palette to their most personal details, this wedding is a favorite!

Andrew and Ashling combined their Chinese and Kentucky roots to create a truly one of a kind wedding experience for their guests. Our bride, Ashling, owns her own stationary company over at Lotus & Ash and created her own stunning wedding invitations and escort wall display. We loved the colors she chose, as they reflect that Chinese heritage. For food the couple decided to serve the Southern comfort classics like fried chicken, shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, biscuits, and corn pudding. These were just some of our favorite details, there were so many more personal touches that made this wedding special and unique.

When you have your wedding at Spindletop, you get the best of both worlds on having an indoor and outdoor space. The couple chose to have their ceremony in front of the venue on the beautiful lawn. We didn’t want to distract from the beautiful scenery, but to dress the space up a little we provided two floral urns to start at the front of the aisle. After the ceremony, the guests were directed to the library inside of Spindletop for cocktail hour. Once cocktail hour was complete, the guests gathered outside the back of the venue underneath a tent filled with greenery and lights for the reception. We love it when our couples utilize a venue properly and take full advantage of the space!

Since the Spindletop tent was mostly white and we had to bring the flaps all the way down because of the weather, the wedding planning team, Laurel and Rose, wanted to soften it up with some greenery. We went all out! Greenery can really transform a space and give it that organic feel that it sometimes need. The before and after transformation was incredible and I’m so happy with how it turned out.

For the flowers we had the classic white and green color palette with just a pop of orange for the reception blooms to again pay tribute to Ashling’s chinese heritage. We used a mix of light and dark ferns with Ranunculus, Dahlias, Majolica Spray Roses, and Anemones. Since the couple had a black and white dance floor, we used our black compote centerpiece vessels to the floral designs be more cohesive.

Absolutely ecstatic to share the flowers we designed for Christopher and Laurel at their Ashford Acres Inn wedding in Lexington, Kentucky.

The flowers are one of my favorite color palettes to date. Earthy browns and reds complement the soft purples and whites. Having a unique color palette can allow your
wedding to stand out. You can’t go wrong when you use in-season blooms. Butterfly Ranunculus, Spirea, Charity Garden Roses, Hellebores and Tulips are just a few of the flowers I used to make Laurel’s arrangements have an organic and romantic flair. Using flowers that are in season is so crucial to allow your bridal bouquet or ceremony installation to look its best!

I loved collaborating with Laura and Emily from Wolf and Bird Events when it came to the table decor. Since the flowers were a main concept and priority for the couple, we wanted to make sure that the rest of the table details were soft and neutral to allow the centerpieces to pop. Even though the wedding decor was neutral in color, it did not lack in stunning details. I loved Five Dot Design’s menu and paper suite additions to the table as well as the flatware and goblets hand picked by Wolf and Bird.

Each photo taken during this event was thoughtful and had purpose. Leah Barry Photography is a favorite of mine and she did not disappoint! Leah took the entire
wedding on film and I can promise you, the investment is worth it! Each photograph looks like a fairy tale.

We are so honored to present this stunning event at Kingwood Center Gardens! We’ve said it before and we will say it again, hiring the right vendor team can make all the difference for your wedding day! This was a wedding dream team and we can’t wait to share all the details.

Each element of this event was beautifully designed and thoughtful. We were in love with the simple, yet romantically impactful, invitation suite and paper goods by Victoria Fiaretti. The cake was an absolute stunner! We love working with Miam Cakes, she is truly one of the best cake artists in Ohio. Another favorite detail was watching the couple take off in a vintage car. Events Held Dear truly designed one of the most stunning weddings we’ve ever got to be apart of.

When you have your wedding at Kingwood, you get the most beautiful outdoor space. You have their stunning garden full of blooming grasses and flowers as well as their manicured lawn that is perfect for a tent reception. For the ceremony installation, we decided to do a floor install. There were these beautiful tall bushes on either side of the aisle and we didn’t want to take away from their beauty. To compliment the rest of the floral and fauna that was growing around the ceremony space during this time, we used lots of grassses and in season flowers like echinacea. We wanted the ceremony installation to feel that it was apart of the space and naturally growing in the gardens. My favorite part of the ceremony was the petal toss at the end of the vows! Would definitely recommend to all of our couples to consider doing a petal toss. It is such a dreamy and romantic way to end your ceremony.

For the reception flowers, we went for a more classic and romantic look. The best thing about flowers is you can really customize them to your space and your design aesthetic. Leda, from Events Held Dear, did an amazing job styling the tables. We were completely smitten by the blue velvet linen and felt our peachy and pink roses complimented them nicely. Couples, do not be afraid of color! You never know just how beautiful it can be!

This event took place in July, which is one of the hottest months in Ohio. To make sure the flowers could withstand the heat, we mostly used garden roses for the bouquets and centerpieces. Roses hold up fantastically in the heat and are great for summer, outdoor weddings! Plus, aren’t they just the prettiest?! Distant Drum, Koko Loco, Combo Rose, and Astrantia were the main flowers we used.
